Solemn Vale Project Update - The Omega Cult
over 3 years ago
โ Mon, Jun 07, 2021 at 02:33:29 AM
Hi folks,
This week's update is a snippet of text from The Omega Cult chapter of the book.
+ + + + + +ย
The Omega Cult
And those who crave long life decree:
โSelf is a simple sacrifice.
For death and breath and blood must flow,
For us to reach our paradise.โ
The Omega Cult is no mere Doomsday society, it doesnโt plan for the End of Days, the Rapture or the coming of alien beings. The Omega is not the end of all, merely the end of all we know. The end of violence, disparity, competition, it is the end of strife and suffering and the price for this freedom, this paradise is simple. Its price is the end of the individual.
Welcome. Become one with the Omega.
Background
In the Vale the Omega is everywhere, itโs in your street, in your house, in your head. Itโs in the woods and the smiles on your neighboursโ faces, itโs in the air you breathe and the food you eat. Itโs consciousness without conscience, awareness without empathy, and existence without end. The Omega exists beneath, it exists beneath the vain arrogance of humanity, its petty bickering and struggle for supremacy. It exists beneath the concrete and tarmac of so-called โprogressโ. It exists beneath the earth, in the forest to the West of the Vale, and it remembers.
Before the birth of Christ, or the rise of the human race the Omega simply was. Primitive creatures lay down to die upon it and their experiences would be consumed, stored until such time as they could be of use. Those that ate the flesh would find themselves somehow driven to protect it, to consume anything that might overgrow the Omega and, for a time, this was enough.
When the first humans, with their hide clothes and tools of wood and stone, laid in death upon the ground above the Omega something changed. By consuming the experience and knowledge of the human-form the Omega gained more than knowledge, it gained will and desire. Over millennia the intellect of the Omega grew into something too vast for mere mortals to understand and it devised ways to turn humanity to its cause, ways to manipulate and influence them to aid in its survival and slow expansion.
But then others came, clad in steel and harness, bringing fire and strife and the Omega took note of what occurred, watching the turmoil as it rolled over the hillsides and settled again. The Omega cultivated once more, watching and waiting but not interfering, not yet. It gathered to it those that were most knowledgeable, absorbed what they knew and bore them up into the light once more by the exchange of its flesh that they might learn more and deliver their knowledge back to the Omega when they were born into the light again, and again.
Much later came the time of smoke and soot, the land trembled as those not yet part of the Omega gouged into the earth and took from it. It recoiled as many of its farthest tendrils were cut, the trees that were part of it started to choke on the air, the land changed and the Omega found something new: purpose.
When the wars came, the Omega knew horror at the violence by the trembling and rending of the earth, it learned of the depthless hunger of those not yet of it and, not long after the poisons seeped into the earth, burning the Omega here, in its own land and it knows this is the time to grow into the lands above, to claim those who are alone, unhappy and afraid, now is the time to rise.

Solemn Vale Project Update - Art Preview
โ Mon, May 24, 2021 at 03:11:08 PM
Hi Folks,
Most of the updates that will be coming in the next few weeks will be mostly artwork and layout previews as we're in deep with the visuals. ย We've also got a few of our other games set within the same universe as Solemn Vale moving into development. ย The first being The Sigma Syndrome followed by Meridian: A ย Vampire Game. ย Lots of wheels in motion and can't wait to share more with everyone.
Anyhoo, here is some more artwork from Solemn Vale. Hope you like it!ย
And a little artwork preview for The Sigma Syndrome. ย
The Sigma Syndrome is a gritty, psychological horror roleplaying game set in a neon-soaked version of our world in the early 1980s. ย Psychokinesis is real and government agencies across the globe have been trying to harness it for decades, the ultimate edge in the Cold War. Itโs a tainted world where strange creatures lurk in the shadows while even stranger people stalk the streets.
We plan on opening up playtesting in the next month or two so stay tuned for more details.

Hi Folks,
Keeping this week's update short and sweet as it's been mostly data management and item set up for the BackerKit launch. ย Still quite a bit of work to do but we'll be getting the Pre-Order store up and running so that folks who missed out on the Kickstarter can still back the project.
The Stretch Goal content is coming along nicely with most of it received, developed and about to head off to editing.
All in all, we're moving along at a nice pace with no concerns or issues.
